New Uttar Pradesh panel to study in detail the status of different backward castes
As per the terms of reference, the committee is also supposed to study all UP government ’s schemes meant for the welfare of backward classes.

Though the setting up of the committee was the direct fallout of the Allahabad High Court’s order, the move has its own political significance in the UP politics.
The four-member committee to assess the socio-economic and educational backwardness among OBC castes in the state was set up last week.
The commit tee, to be headed by Justice (Retired) Raghvendra Kumar Singh, is expected to submit its report to the government at the earliest possible date, preferably within three months. Apart from Singh, the other three members of the committee are J P Vishwakarma (retired IAS), Professor Bhupendra Vi k r am Singh (BHU, Varanasi) and Ashok Rajbhar (advocate, Azamgarh).
The government hopes to receive feedback about the different schemes for the backward classes. Moreover, the committee will also help map updated data on the recruitment of different castes within the backward class category in government jobs under the existing reservation system in the state.
As per the terms of reference, the committee is also supposed to study all UP government ’s schemes meant for the welfare of backward classes.
