The BJP's UP unit has prepared a report pointing out the arbitrariness and high-handedness of the state government officials resulting in dissatisfaction among party workers.
BJP leaders' statement on changing the Constitution gave fodder to the opposition to build the narrative that reservation would be abolished. The Agnipath scheme was also another reason which people objected to, the report states.
ET had reported on June 15 about this report which was collated based on the feedback collected by party workers.
BJP's UP chief Bhupendra Chaudhary met party's national president JP Nadda and Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the last two days and shared details of these reports.
As per the report, the BJP's vote share dipped by at least 8% in all six regions of the state -- Western UP, Braj, Kanpur-Bundelkhand, Awadh, Gorakhpur and Kashi region. OBC and SC voters moving away from the BJP is the reason cited by BJP leaders for the decline in vote share.
The BJP central leadership is looking to make some changes and soon a new BJP state unit chief is likely to be appointed. Similarly, changes in the state cabinet cannot be ruled out.
The state government has also transferred around ten IAS officers in the state and appointed a new DM for Ayodhya. The BJP had lost the prestigious Faizabad Lok Sabha seat in the recent polls which includes Ayodhya.
