India recorded the highest rise in Covid-19 cases anywhere in the world on Monday, overtaking the US that has seen a dip in numbers recently. The spurt is coming from states such as Andhra Pradesh and Assam, which had thus far been less impacted by the pandemic. States such as Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu — which saw high growth earlier — have seen some moderation. A look at the spread in 20 states that account for about 98% of the cases.
