New force food for democracy: BJP on AAP
KOLKATA: It is always good for the health of democracy when a new force emerges, BJP Vice-president Smriti Irani said about Aaam Admi Party ( AAP) which made a stellar debut in the country's parliamentary politics yesterday.

"But if you look at them (AAP), they started off by saying all politicians are bad and now they themselves have turned into politicians. The contradictions in their journey has been quite evident.

"Now they shall be truly measured as how they serve the people after getting into office," she told newsmen here on the sidelines of a programme.

To questions whether AAP would eat into BJP's share of votes in the next Lok Sabha polls, Irani said "I think AAP is limited to only New Delhi. We have given stress to increasing our strength at the booth level and we are confident of winning majority single handedly,"

She denied allegations by AAP that BJP was trying to poach on its MLAs. "I understand that there are certain political entities which thrive on sensationalism. When an editor asked AAP to present proof they evaded the question."

"I don't foresee it," was her curt reply when asked whether AAP could become an alternative to both Congress and BJP.
