New era of friendly relations between India-Pakistan: Saif-ud-din Soz

The signing of liberalised visa agreement between India and Pakistan is the beginning of a new era of friendly relations, Congress today said.

SRINAGAR: The signing of liberalised visa agreement between India and Pakistan is the beginning of a new era of friendly relations between the two nations, Congress today said.

"The new developments in the sub-continent is the beginning of an era of friendly relations between India and Pakistan starting with adoption of Confidence Building Measures like relaxation of visa regime," Jammu and Kashmir Congress president Saif-ud-din Soz said, addressing party workers in Town Hall at Anantnag.

Soz, however, said Pakistan leadership has to show a political will to dismantle the terrorist infrastructure for the peace process to move forward.

"That way alone the lasting peace will be established between India and Pakistan and all issues will be sorted to mutual advantage," he added.

He said the peace process between the two countries would be further consolidated through the proposed visit of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to Islamabad.

"Many CBMs are in the pipeline and the entire (peace) process will be consolidated through the proposed visit of Singh (to Islamabad)," Soz said.
