With the formation of the NDA government in the state and TDP being a crucial partner at the centre, the BJP had been playing a secondary role in Andhra Pradesh. However, with the new state president APN Madhav, the party has started looking to expand its support base in the southern states. After taking over as state BJP president, Madhav has been constantly touring the state. In July, he went on a statewide yatra starting from Kadapa, appealing to party workers to highlight the achievements of the Modi government, especially people-centric schemes.

In July, the party organized a massive Shobha Yatra in Puttaparthi aimed at spreading spiritual ethos among workers and the state populace. While in the Rayalaseema region, he addressed farmers' concerns and said he would put pressure on the state government to expedite the Handri-Neeva irrigation project's completion. Two weeks ago in Guntur, Madhav said that landmarks with colonial names should be changed and demanded renaming the Jinnah Tower in Guntur.
