Benjamin Netanyahu to visit India on January 14

India in December voted in favour of the UN General Assembly resolution condemning the US for its decision to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

NEW DELHI: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on landmark visit to India from January 14 will visit three cities in six days including in Gujarat with an eye on pushing ties across sectors from security to development to business.

Netanyahu will arrive here on January 14 and depart from Mumbai on January 19.

During his visit, the prime minister will hold meetings in New Delhi with President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj. He will be the second Israeli PM to visit India after Ariel Sharon in 2003.


India will use opportunity to use its good offices with Netanyahu for a two-state solution for ending protracted crisis in West Asia.

In addition, the visiting PM will give an inaugural speech at the Raisina Dialogue and meet with the Indo-Israeli CEO forum in New Delhi.

In Gujarat, the two prime ministers will visit the Center of Excellence in Vadrad and inaugurate a Center of Excellence for date palms in Bhuj via video conference. They will also visit the iCreate innovation campus and centre.

He will be third foreign leader after the Chinese President Xi Jinping and Japanese PM Shinzo Abe to visit Modi’s home state during official visit to India.
