Nepalese youths raise anti-India slogans at Indo-Nepal border

PITHORAGARH: Nepalese youths today raised anti-India slogans at a town along Indo-Nepal border and called India an "imperialist nation" for 'illegally capturing' Nepalese territory of Kalapani and Lipulekh.

The activists demonstrated under 'Akhil Krantikari Manch' banner in Nepal's Darchula town, adjoining Dharchula town in Uttarakhand, along the border.

The president of the organisation, Ratna Dhakal, said, "To demonstrate against the imperialist design of India, we have decided to march towards Kalapani to protest there and assert that the post belongs Nepal."

According to Pithoragarh Superintendent of police Roshan Lal Sharma, the district administration and police in- coordination with Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) have made elaborate arrangements on the border bridge which divides the two nations at this part of the border.

The forces have also pressed extra-security personnel to trace the unwanted elements from Nepal after the demonstration, he said.

"We have intensified our checking move not only at border bridges along the Indo-Nepal border, but have also started strict checking for Nepal citizens beyond Chiyalekh, the inner line post, after the Nepalese students have threatened demonstration a week ago," Sharma said.
