KOLKATA: CPIM politburo member Sitaram Yechuri said on Monday that the present crisis in Nepal should be resolved through democratic means and India should not interfere in Nepals internal matters.

Speaking to newspersons at the Kolkata Press Club, Yechuri also expressed concern about the police excess in Nepal over sacking of the army chief, R. Katawal. "India has not interfered in Nepals internal affairs in the past and I expect our country will not poke its nose into the neighbouring countrys affairs this time too," the CPIM politburo member said.

Mr Yechuri also described the current development in Nepal as a "serious one" and felt "it should be resolved through a democratic process. Unless this happens, whatever the people of Nepal had achieved through struggle will be derailed."
