Nepal earthquake: Odisha government announces Rs 5 crore for victims

Apart from this, three officials of the Odisha State Disaster Mitigation Authority have been sent to Nepal to help with thre relief and rescue efforts.

BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced Rs 5 crore assistance for the earthquake victims in Nepal.

"Naveen Patnaik announced Rs 5 crore for the relief and rehabilitation of victims in quake-hit Nepal," a release from the Chief Minister's Office said.

Besides, three senior officials of Odisha State Disaster Mitigation Authority (OSDMA) have also been sent to Nepal to assist in the ongoing relief and restoration operation, official sources said.

The Chief Minister expressed hope that normalcy would soon return in the Himalayan state, they said.

Patnaik had earlier proposed to send a team from Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) to Nepal to help in the relief and restoration work.
