Nepal Deputy PM meets Sushma Swaraj; India to re-route vehicles from quieter border areas
With no immediate signs of the Madhesi agitation ending, Deputy Prime Minister of Nepal Kamal Thapa was here on a three-day visit beginning Monday for wideranging talks.

This is Thapa’s second visit to Delhi in less than two months’ and comes amid shortage of essential supplies in Nepal due to the Madhesi stir. India wants Nepal’s new constitution to fulfil the political and economic aspirations of all sections of its people and warns that any instability in the Himalayan state will send ripples across the border.
While Thapa went to Bengaluru on day one for a private programme, he was closeted with RJD, BJD and NCP leaders in Delhi on Tuesday to discuss a lasting solution. He later met Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj, BJP leader Ram Madhav and NSA AK Doval on Wedneday.
Thapa is known to have good political connections in India. During his first visit in October, Thapa had met PM Narendra Modi and Sushma Swaraj.
