During the Motion of Thanks on President's Address debate in the Lok Sabha, PM Modi talked about what Prime Minister Nehru believed about Indian workers. Quoting Nehru's words from the Red Fort, Modi said, "Indians generally do not have the habit of working very hard, we do not work as much as the people of Europe or Japan or China or Russia or America. It means that Nehru ji thought that Indians are lazy and less intelligent."
Continuing, PM Modi talked about another Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi, who had a similar view. Quoting her words from Independence Day at the Red Fort, Modi shared Gandhi's remark, "Congress' mindset is that it has never trusted the capability of the country. It considered itself rulers and the public as someone lesser, someone smaller." Modi said Indira Gandhi's ideas matched Nehru's thoughts about Indians.
PM Modi didn't only talk about Nehru and Indira but also criticized the Congress party. He said the party wants to "cancel" everything and doesn't trust the country's abilities. Modi stated, "Congress' mindset is that it has never trusted the capability of the country. It considered itself rulers and the public as someone lesser, someone smaller."
Responding to the debate in Lok Sabha on the Motion of Thanks on President's Address, PM Modi repeated Nehru's view, saying, "Indians generally do not have the habit of working very hard, we do not work as much as the people of Europe or Japan or China or Russia or America. It means that Nehru ji thought that Indians are lazy and less intelligent."
PM Modi's talk after the Interim Budget not only gave insights into what Nehru and Gandhi thought about India's work and intelligence but also started discussions about the Congress party's thinking. The different views of Nehru and Gandhi on Indians reveal an interesting part of the country's political history.
