Negative talk, criticism taking West Bengal backwards: Mamata Banerjee
KOLKATA: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today said that negative talk and criticism by a section of opposition parties were taking the state backwards.

Speaking at an event marking the birth anniversary of rebel poet Kazi Nazrul Islam here, Banerjee said, "Some are busy in making criticism. This will not help in taking the state on the path of progress. Negative criticism will not come to any help."

She also focussed her lens on the media for "pursuing negative publicity".

"The media is making all negative publicity. We are very positive in our approach and I will make sure that Bengal will march ahead," she said.

Banerjee announced on the occasion that a new convention centre like that of the Science City would be built in the southern part of the metropolis.

She said that her government would arrange performances for nearly 7,000 artistes for which they would be paid.
