The Bihar MLC elections have brought differences within the JDU out into the open. During the election, JDU MLA Anant Singh openly campaigned against the party's official candidate for the Patna Graduate Constituency, Neeraj Kumar.

Now that the elections are over and Neeraj Kumar has won, the battle has shifted from Anant Singh to Union Minister and senior party leader Lalan Singh.

Since his victory, Neeraj Kumar has been meeting party leaders to thank them for their support. At the same time, he has been targeting Lalan Singh, who, according to Kumar, did not support and was silently backing Anant Singh. Kumar has said that he will never visit Lalan Singh to seek his blessings and that he will return what Singh has done to him with full interest in the future. Neeraj Kumar is also pitching strongly for the leadership of Nishant Kumar, Nitish Kumar's son and a minister in the state government. JD(U) national working president Sanjay Jha has played down the differences but left it to the leaders concerned to resolve the issue among themselves.
