Need to contact a loved one in Chennai? Resq is here
BENGALURU: Chennai is in a recuperation mode, as rescue missions are underway, people from other cities are desperately trying to reach their loved ones in the city. This where ‘ Resq’, a notifier bot, comes into the picture.

Built by Anoram, a digital agency based in Chennai, Resq helps one get a notification as soon as their loved one’s number is active. Resq works with both WhatsApp and the traditional SMS.

“We thought of helping people in whatever way we could. We thought why not use tech to help track numbers. We did the beta testing yesterday, and it went live by yesterday morning itself. The whole service was built in one hour,” said Nishanth KL, co-founder of Anoram. Anoram has also tied up with SMS Horizon, a bulk SMS service based in Salem in Tamil Nadu.

Resq keeps checking the online status of all numbers that are currently not reachable. As soon as the person comes online Resq will send a notification through SMS and Whatsapp to both the numbers.

The service does not have an upper limit of numbers one can track and the website (http://help.anoram.com/) promises that it’ll be up and running till all networks in the rain-hit city are restored.

The Facebook junta has done its bit in spreading the word about this service. Resq is currently tracking 636 users.
