'Need for re-look at rehabilitation policy of ex-militants'
JAMMU: Raising concern over the recent terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir, a body of Kashmiri Pandits today asked the Centre to re-look at the state government's policy for the rehabilitation of ex-militants.

"The government of India should take a re-look at the whole issue in the light of the security scenario and shun the policy of populism in such a sensitive matter," said Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, president of 'Panun Kashmir'.

Speaking at a meeting of the outfit here, Chrungoo said the move to rehabilitate the ex-militants is tantamount to "rubbing salt on the wounds of the victims of terrorism".

"Panun Kashmir and all nationalist forces have been consistently opposing the state's lukewarm policy on terrorism.

"The recent acts of terror in the state and particularly in the Kashmir valley hint towards recycling and regrouping of the sleeper modules in the shape of ex-militants," he said.

Highlighting the plight of inhabitants of Jagti Township in the outskirts of Jammu, Panun Kashmir spokesperson Virender Rain said it was a grave violation of human rights.

"The residents of Jagti Township are suffering due to the lack of basic facilities. They are being subjected to long power cuts which is a grave violation of their human rights. The government needs to look into the matter with utmost seriousness."
