NE business summit to rope in private sectors
Showcasing potentials of the North East states and promoting the region for private sector investments would be main highlights of the fourth edition of the North East business summit slated for September 15 and 16 in Guwahati.
Officials in the ministry informed that a conclave of Governors and Chief Ministers from the region will also be held during the summit, which is being organised by DoNER in collaboration with Indian Chamber of Commerce, Kolkata.
The summit would focus on development of the North East states in the context of the Look East Policy on trade and investment linkages with ASEAN and SAARC countries. It would also stress on development in sectors like tourism, food processing, power, infrastructure, information and technology, handloom and cottage industries.
A ministry official said the key attraction of the summit would be a special session on "North East on Fast Track-Building International Partnership". Participants will discuss mutual cooperation of the North East states with countries like Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal, Bhutan, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia and Philippines for all round development of the hill states.
