NDMC gifts LED bulbs to union development ministry standing committee members
The civic body, which distributed sweets worths Rs 94 lakh to its employees on Holi last year, will be distributing LED bulbs this year.

The Light-Emitting Diode (LED) bulbs were presented to the MPs who attended the Standing Committee meeting of the Union Urban Development Ministry here.
"NDMC chairman Jalaj Srivastava gifted two LED bulbs each to 31 MPs who attended the meeting," a senior NDMC official said.
The civic body, which made news last year for distributing sweets worths Rs 94 lakh to its employees on Holi, will this year be distributing LED bulbs instead for the festival.
"We will be distributing three LED bulbs each to 12,000 employees on Holi. Average usage of each household is estimated to be five bulbs," said Srivastava.
Modi had launched a scheme on Monday for distribution of LED bulbs under the Domestic Efficient Lighting Programme ( DELP).
Describing the LED bulbs as a ' Prakash Path' (way to light), Modi had added that gifts such as diaries and calendars on New Year should be replaced by presents of such bulbs.
Under DELP, LED bulbs will be provided to all domestic consumers at an initial payment of Rs 10 each, recovery of which will be done in 12 months from their electricity bill.
NDMC is also encouraging households, hospitals and schools under its jurisdiction to procure these bulbs at the earliest and save energy, the official said.
