NCR Planning Board to meet on Tuesday, to discuss protection of Mangar Bani forest among other issues

NEW DELHI: The National Capital Region Planning Board ( NCRPB) will meet in New Delhi on June 9 to discuss several issues relating to the development of the national capital region (NCR) including protection of the Mangar Bani forest in Haryana, inclusion of new areas in the NCR and delineation of Natural Conservation Zones (NCZ).

The meeting will be chaired by urban development minister Venkaiah Naidu. Members of the NCRPB include chief ministers of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh besides urban development ministers and chief secretaries of these states.

The meeting has a 12-point agenda that includes protection of Mangar Bani green cover in Haryana, inclusion of additional areas in the NCR, delineation of NCZs in the participating states, review of status of Regional Rapid Transport System (RRTS), preparation and finalization of sub-regional plans by participating states and status of financing of projects by NCRPB, among others.

NCRPB was constituted in 1985 by an act of parliament with the objectives of preparation of a plan for the development of the NCR, coordination and monitoring the implementation of the said plan and evolving harmonized policies for control of land uses and developing infrastructure in the region so as to avoid any haphazard development in the region.
