NCP slams Nitish government, says Bihar heading to 'jungle raj'

Tariq Anwar slammed chief minister Nitish Kumar for 'fooling' the people by making 'big promises' about development.

PATNA: In a dig at the NDA government in Bihar following the protests faced by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during his 'Adhikar Yatra', NCP National General Secretary Tariq Anwar today said the state is heading to 'jungle raj'.

"There has been a spurt in crime of late and at the same time simmering discontent among the people against the NDA government has finally come to fore if massive protests in the districts during the chief minister's 'Adhikar yatra' are any indication of the things to come," he told a press conference here.

Anwar slammed the chief minister for 'fooling' the people by making 'big promises' about development and said the massive protests that greeted him during his tour to the districts recently was a reflection of public anger against the state government.

Even BJP - Kumar's long standing ally has washed its hands off due to the non-performance of the state government and passed the buck to the chief minister, he claimed.

"BJP MP Uday Singh has exposed the hype about development, corruption and lawlessness gripping the state during his Vedna (anguish) rally in Purnia district yesterday," he said.

The NCP MP hit out at Kumar for allegedly foisting false cases and letting loose a reign of terror on the general public and contractual teachers, who had 'rightfully' exercised their democratic right of protest during the 'Adhikar yatra' in Khagaria district last week and imposition of 'undeclared emergency' in all those districts he had visited recently to solicit support for special status for the state.

He also flayed Kumar for patronizing local JD(U) leader Ranveer Yadav who had brandished a weapon at the protestors in Khagaria and giving him a clean chit for his illegal action.
