In a meeting chaired by NCP president Sharad Pawar in Mumbai, the party allocated its leaders the responsibility of strengthening its units in each region of Maharashtra. "We are going to hold intra-party elections at our taluka and district levels within two months. We have also decided to hold one-day workshops for our workers in April and May. They would be attended by NCP chief Sharad Pawar. These workshops would be held in each region of the state," said state NCP president Jayant Patil.
Pawar has directed the party brass in Maharashtra to strengthen the organisation and has asked them to begin touring all the districts in the state within the next two months. The party machinery has also been asked to begin working and strengthening the booth-level workers. NCP is one of the first parties in the state that has hit the ground running with an eye on the upcoming elections. Of the three main constituents of the Maha Vikas Aghadi, NCP is considered as the second strongest party in the state after BJP.
Of the other two allies, Congress is fighting factionalism.
