NCBC recommends sub-categorisation within OBCs into three groups
NEW DELHI: The National Commission for Backward Classes ( NCBC) has in its report to the government recommended sub-categorisation within the OBCs into three categories.

The NCBC has recommended sub-categorisation within OBCs into three sub-categories namely Extremely Backward Classes (Group 'A'), More Backward Classes (Group 'B') and Backward Classes (Group 'C'), MoS for Social Justice and Empowerment Krishan Pal Gurjar said in reply to a question.

"It has been recommended that the Extremely Backward Classes should be grouped into a separate group which could include aboriginal tribes, vimukta jatis, nomadic and semi- nomadic tribes, wandering classes etc," the Minister said.

"This has been recommended on the grounds of equity and fair play by not equating these Extremely Backward Classes with the forwards among the backward classes," he added.
