RAIPUR: Atleast four vehicles engaged in construction work were allegedly set ablaze by Maoists in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district today, police said.

"A group of naxals torched four tipper trucks of a private construction company engaged in construction of Narayanpur-Orchha road near Kapsi village under Farasgaon police station limits," Narayanpur Superintendent of Police Abhishek Meena told PTI over phone.

"The vehicles were parked at the construction site where road laying work was going on," he said.

Around two dozen armed ultras reached at the construction site this morning and threatened the labourers, who were engaged in the work, to leave the place, the official said, adding that after torching the vehicles, Maoists fled into the jungle.

Security personnel were rushed to the site when labourers informed them about the incident.

A combing operation was launched to nab the ultras in the region, the official added.
