Naxals torch bus carrying supplies for security forces in Chhattisgarh; none hurt

RAIPUR: Naxals today torched a bus carrying supplies for security forces after asking passengers to get down in Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Bijapur district, police said.

The incident occurred near Dugaiguda village under Awapalli police station limits when the private bus was on its way to Basaguda from Jagdalpur district headquarter, Bijapur Additional Superintendent of Police Indira Kalyan Elesela told PTI.

A group of armed cadres stopped the vehicle near Dugaiguda between Bijapur-Awapalli, and asked the passengers to alight the bus before setting it ablaze, Elesela said.

"Some food commodities were also being transported in the bus for security forces which were also burnt along with the vehicle," the ASP said.

However, no harm to any passengers has been reported in the incident, he added.

Soon after being informed security forces rushed towards the spot, the ASP said, adding that a combing operation has been launched in the region to nab the attackers.
