'Naxals maintaining close links with Filipino, Turkish groups'

NEW DELHI: Naxals are maintaining close ideological links with Maoist organisations in the Philippines, Turkey and some other countries, RajyaSabha was informed today.

Minister of State for Home R P N Singh said some senior cadres of Communist Party of Philippines imparted training to members of CPI(Maoist) in 2005 and 2011.

"The CPI(Maoist) maintain close ideological links with Maoist organisations in Philippines and Turkey," he said in reply to a question.

The minister said CPI(Maoist) is also a member of Coordination Committee of Maoist Parties and Organisations of South Asia. The Maoist parties of South Asia are members of this conglomerate.

Singh, however, said there are no inputs available to indicate that the Naxalites are getting financial assistance and modern weapons from these countries.
