Naxalite groups unhappy with CPI(M) for seeking alliance with Congress in West Bengal
KOLKATA: Several Naxalite groups in Bengal which were keen on aligning with the Left have come down heavily on the CPI-M for seeking an electoral alliance with the Congress for the assembly elections in April.

Some of these groups like the CPI-ML (Liberation), which will hold a meet here on January 21 to protest against both the Modi and Mamata governments, has decided to attack the CPI-M also for its keenness to go with the Congress.

Another Naxalite faction, Communist Revolutionary League of India (CRLI), said that by seeking an electoral adjustment with Congress, CPI-M is damaging its integrity, which is actually helping the Trinamool Congress to gain electoral mileage.

"The CPI-M during its 21st party congress had decided to oppose the Congress and BJP. But now some leaders from within the Left (read CPI-M) who might have some vested interests, are asking the Congress to strike a poll pact with the CPI-M in Bengal. We simply can't understand this," said Partha Ghosh, secretary of the CPI ML (Liberation) on Tuesday. . "Congress supports capitalism, encourages corruption, and is itself involved in it. Seeking an electoral alliance with such a party will certainly defame the Marxists, and will eventually help the Trinamool Congress," Ghosh explained.
