Naxalism should be viewed as a human problem: Jamir

Naxalism should be viewed as a human problem and should be addressed using the collective wisdom of leaders across the political spectrum.

MUMBAI: Naxalism should be viewed as a human problem and should be addressed using the collective wisdom of leaders across the political spectrum, Maharashtra Governor S C Jamir has said.

Globalisation was affecting the lives of tribals and while carrying out development projects, the rights of tribals must be protected, the Governor said while addressing the Indian Merchants' Chamber here.

"If we wish to have a progressive, dynamic and prosperous India we must deal with home grown problems of internal security with a human approach," Jamir said in an official release here.

The Governor also said the spirit of thinking for the nation was reducing among political leaders and said they should address national issues without considering differences in political parties.
