Dehra Dun: Uttarakhand Governor Aziz Qureshi today showered praise on the Indian Navy for its spirit of valour and sacrifice especially during the wars with China and Pakistan.

"The history of Indian Navy is one of valour, sacrifice, and nationalism. During the two World Wars, and particularly in our conflicts with Pakistan and China, we have seen the true spirit of the illustrious tradition of the Indian Navy. I salute them and bow my head and pay my deepest regards to their valiant services," Qureshi said, inaugurating the three-day International Cartographic Congress here.

Cartography helps in understanding coastal changes and other tidal phenomena and their management.

The Governor said he felt proud to be present among "the bravest sons of India who guard the seas at the cost of their lives."

He said it was significant that Uttarakhand organised the Congress with the theme of Sustainable Earth Resource Management and hoped that the deliberations would provide the necessary thrust and direction in finding solutions for sustainable earth resource management through cartography.

The Governor also inaugurated the exhibition of maps, charts, globes, models and remote sensing equipment which has been organised as part of this international congress.
