Navin Hiranandani commits suicide
Navin Hiranandani, eminent ENT surgeon and member of the Hiranandani family which owns and runs the construction company - Hiranandani Builders, died on Friday.
Dr Hiranandani, the elder brother of Surendra and Niranjan Hiranandani killed himself by jumping from the sixth floor of his Malabar Hill residence. According to the police there are no clues to determine why he took this extreme step. “We have registered a case and investigations are on,” they said.
Dr Hiranandani was the only one of his siblings who took up the same profession as his father, Dr LH Hiranandani who was a renowned ENT surgeon himself. While his brothers Surendra and Niranjan managed the construction business, Navin Hiranandani was involved with the Dr LH Hiranandani Hospital, where he was a visiting ENT surgeon. His name was also mentioned as involved in the construction business on the company’s website although he is said to have made an exit from the business to concentrate on his ENT practice.
Dr Hiranandani was known for his skills as a surgeon and has operated several unusual cases at the Dr LH Hirandanani Hospital. Dr Sujit Chatterjee, CEO of Hiranandani Hospital, could not be reached for comment.
