Naveen Patnaik flags off exposure visit of young astronomers

An exposure visit of the Top Twenty students of Young Astronomer Talent Search (YATS) programme-2012 to Vikram Sarabhai Space Exhibition (VSSE) Centre, Ahmedabad was flagged off here today.

BHUBANESWAR: An exposure visit of the Top Twenty students of Young Astronomer Talent Search (YATS) programme-2012 to Vikram Sarabhai Space Exhibition (VSSE) Centre, Ahmedabad was flagged off here today.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik flagged off the exposure visit, organised by Tata Steel, and wished all the best to the students and their guide teachers for the programme.

Tata Steel, in collaboration with Pathani Samanta Planetarium, has been organising Young Astronomer Talent Search (YATS) programme in the state since 2007, a company said here.

Apart from being a platform that popularises the great contributions of the legendary Pathani Samanta to the field of Astronomy, YATS helps in identifying and encouraging potential talents in the field of astronomy and space science among the school going children in Odisha.

Besides being awarded, the Top Twenty YATS award winners of 2010 and 2011 were taken on an exposure visit to ISRO, Bengaluru. Their trip was sponsored by Tata Steel, the release added.
