Nationwide protest against Agnipath scheme on June 24, says Rakesh Tikait

The SKM Coordination Committee in Karnal has decided that protests against the Agnipath programme will be organised at district and tehsil headquarters across India on June 24.

The Samyukta Kisan Morcha, a farmers' collective, will organise a nationwide protest against the Agnipath project on June 24, Rakesh Tikait, the head of the farmers' union said.

He explained that the decision to protest was made during an SKM coordination committee meeting in Karnal, and he invited the youth, political parties to join in on Friday's marches.

The SKM Coordination Committee in Karnal has decided that protests against the Agnipath programme will be organised at district and tehsil headquarters across India on June 24.


A call to action for young people, community groups, and political parties. A protest scheduled for June 30 has been pushed back to June 24 because of the BKU (Bharatiya Kisan Union). BKU's national spokesperson, Tikait, tweeted.

Tikait's BKU, which was a part of the SKM-led 2020-21 rallies in Delhi against the now-repealed farm legislation, had previously called for a protest against the Agnipath programme on June 30.
