National Mission on Monuments and Antiquities documents over 11 lakh antiquities

The National Mission on Monuments and Antiquities (NMMA) has documented over 11 lakh antiquities in the country, the Rajya Sabha was told today.

NEW DELHI: The National Mission on Monuments and Antiquities (NMMA) has documented over 11 lakh antiquities in the country, the Rajya Sabha was told today.

In his reply, Minister of State for Culture and Tourism Shripad Naik said NMMA has so far documented more than 11 lakh antiquities including registered antiquities from different sources.

Data of about 2.75 lakh was uploaded on the NMMA website, he said. NMMA was launched to prepare a National Register on Antiquities by documenting antiquities from different sources in a uniform format during the XI Five Year Plan.

The Minister further stated that NMMA has been continued for another five years in the XII Five Year Plan (2012-17). To another question, Naik said the Ministry of Tourism has prioritised nine projects having total worth of Rs. 97.50 crore in Rajasathan.
