National Herald case: After quizzing Rahul and Sonia Gandhi, ED searches several locations
The raids came barely a week after ED sleuths last interrogated Congress president Sonia Gandhi. Prior to that, Rahul Gandhi was also questioned for more than 50 hours over five days.

A person who did not wish to be named alleged that the searches were carried out under relevant provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act to "gather additional evidence on trail of funds". The raids came barely a week after ED sleuths last interrogated Congress president Sonia Gandhi. Prior to that, Rahul Gandhi was also questioned for more than 50 hours over five days.
Two senior officers, including an assistant director of ED, interrogated the Gandhis. ED recorded their statements under Section 50 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. The duo were questioned over Young Indian's acquisition of Associated Journals that published the National Herald newspaper. Gandhis are directors of Young India. Congress has dubbed the case as a political vendetta. ED alleges the Gandhis 'misappropriated assets worth over ₹2,000 crore of AJL by paying ₹50 lakh." The Income-Tax Department had launched a probe against them on a complaint filed by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy in 2013.
