NEW DELHI: The number of cases received since the establishment of National Green Tribunal till January 31 this year is 7,768, Lok Sabha was informed today.

In the written response to a question in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Environment, Forests and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar said the number of cases disposed till January 31 is 5,167 and the number of cases pending is 2,601.

In the written reply to another question, Javadekar said that as per information available with Wildlife Crime Control Bureau, a total of 1,252, 1,399, and 753 persons were arrested in the years 2012, 2013 and 2014, respectively, suspected to have committed wildlife offences including illegal trafficking of organs of wildlife.
