Aga Ruhullah Mehdi
The NC legislators Sajjad Shaheen and Salman Sagar launched a counter attack on Mehdi stating that he has betrayed the NC as well as his electorate.
"RuhullahMehdi should not have exploited the martyrs like Tufail Mattoo for his politics. We will never abandon the cause of people our party has espoused since 1931. BJP was unfortunately successful in taking Aga sb out of NC. With Aga's help BJP's OperationLotus was successful," said Salman Sagar, an NC legislator from Srinagar. Mehdi resigned from the party as well as Lok Sabha seat on November 3 stating that NC has reneged it's promises especially on Article 370 and reservation.
The NC MLA said that Mehdi has never spoken agressively or targetted People's Democratic Party and BJP, which surely means there is something being veiled. "He just targets chief minister Omar Abdullah. Is it ego clash or something else, only time will tell. But we are also not weak to not respond. Senior party leaders will keep responding to this," said Sagar.
Another NC MLA Sajjad Shaheen from Banihal said that Mehdi has failed as an MLA, failed as a minister and has now failed as an MP as well. "He was instrumental in further dividing people of Kashmir," said Shaheen.
The NC legislators that "agencies" were working to break NC but they won't be successful. "Some of our MLAs have expressed concerns and that issue will be resolved within a few day," said Sagar whole reffering to dissent within the NC following the recent reshuffle and expansion of council of ministers.
Deputy chief minister of J&K, Surinder Choudhary said that the BJP was attempting to dismantle the NC. "Immediately after Mehdi’s resignation, Ram Madhav claimed that the people who attended the event organised by Mehdi were, in fact, sent by the BJP. Why are you coming to us with these questions? Go ask BJP's Sunil Sharma...Mehdi was a decent, honourable man. The BJP misled him, and yesterday, the BJP itself admitted that Mehdi is 'their man'... BJP is always orchestrates such dramas," Choudhary told reporters.
