Nation-wide demo by BJP on May 12 against "misuse" of CBI

BJP to hold demonstrations against misuse of CBI by UPA govt.

NEW DELHI: BJP will hold demonstrations in state capitals across the country on May 12 against "misuse" of CBI by the Congress-led UPA government.

"Our state unit leaders will hold demonstrations in state capitals on May 12 against misuse of CBI by the government to garner support for cut-motions in Lok Sabha and arrest of police officers in Gujarat in the Sohrabuddin encounter case, which is very demoralising for the police," a senior BJP leader said.

A delegation of BJP MPs had submitted a memorandum to President Pratibha Patil yesterday alleging that the government was misusing CBI against opposition leaders and shielding its own leaders.

Earlier, on May 6 these MPs had held a demonstration inside Parliament House complex on the issue.

The main opposition alleged that at the behest of the government, the CBI was going slow in the disproportionate assets cases against SP Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, RJD leader Lalu Prasad and BSP supremo Mayawati in lieu of their support.
