Nashik revenue division to tackle crisis-like situation
The Nashik revenue division comprising five districts is geared up to face scarcity-like situation that has risen due to lack of rains in the state.
A meeting was held yesterday at the divisional office and was presided by the Divisional Commissioner Dr Sanjay Chahande and five collectors of each district as well as the concerned officials to take stock of the present situation.
Chahande issued instructions to the collectors to adopt various schemes in their respective districts to tackle the odds.
"Only 40 per cent of sowing operations in the division have tumbledown enormously due to minimal rainfall. It was 94 per cent last year. Also the water level in various dams have been reduced due to this," Chahande said.
To tackle this fall, the Maharashtra Government has drawn its attention on availability of seeds and fertilisers to the farmers along with supply of drinking water, providing lift irrigation schemes, he said.
Besides, the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company has also started its load-shedding programme as the demand for power in various sectors have increased due to almost nil monsoon, Chahande added.
