NASA denies it is in talks with Japan for purchase of HTV

American space agency NASA has denied media reports that it is negotiating to purchase H-2 Transfer Vehicles (HTV) from the Japanese space agency JAXA.

NEW YORK: American space agency NASA has denied media reports that it is negotiating to purchase H-2 Transfer Vehicles (HTV) from the Japanese space agency JAXA.

HTV is uninhabited resupply cargo ship for the space station.

"NASA has not officially or unofficially been discussing the purchase of HTV from JAXA," it said in a statement.

The space agency said it is committed to domestic commercial cargo resupply to the space station and does not plan to procure cargo delivery services from Japan.

A Japanese daily, The Yomiuri, had earlier reported that NASA is in an unofficial talk with JAXA to buy HTV from Japan so that it can be used to transfer supplies to the space station after its space shuttles' retirement.
