Narendra Modi’s Guwahati rally faces teachers’ eligibility test hurdle

The saffron party while expressing fear that this will cause hardships to students appealed the government of Assam to reschedule the TET exam date.

GUWAHATI: BJP’s prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi’s Assam visit has hit the exam hurdle.

Assam government is holding teachers’ eligibility test (TET) on February 8. BJP has accused the state government of trying to throw a spanner in Modi’s visit by holding TET for Higher Secondary Education on February 8.

The saffron party while expressing fear that this will cause hardships to students appealed the government of Assam to reschedule the TET exam date.

Modi is visiting Assam almost after two years and will address a public meeting at the veterinary playground, Khanapara in Guwahati. The state unit is making effort to make the meeting ‘Mahajagaran Samaroh’ a grand show before the Lok Sabha polls.

Assam Pradesh BJP president, Sarbananda Sonowal said that TET candidate will be exposed to lot of inconvenience as there will be huge traffic jam on the rally day.

BJP stated that it has given a letter to the Assam government on Sunday, requesting the government to reschedule the TET exam date.

Sonowal said, “The party had sought the permission of the authorities quite earlier for Modi’s programme in Guwahati. The TET exam was fixed on a different date but recently the government again changed the date to February 8.”

According to BJP president this might be a ploy of the government to dither some people from attending the meeting.

BJP is planning to put LCD screens in different parts of Guwahati for the rally. The Saffron party will dash lakhs of letter to different citizens across the state requesting them to attend the rally.
