Narendra Modi's anointment a "shameful" move: Punjab Congress
CHANDIGARH: Punjab Congress leaders today slammed BJP for declaring Narendra Modi its prime ministerial candidate, saying it was a "shameful" move given the Gujarat Chief Minister's "firm stand against minority communities".

"It is shameful that Modi was nominated as BJP's prime ministerial candidate despite his firm stand against minority communities," Punjab Congress President Partap Singh Bajwa said.

Alleging that Sikh farmers in the Kutch region of Gujarat had been denied justice by Modi, Bajwa said the BJP leader should change his anti-minority stance and follow the Congress -led Haryana government, which had brought in a legislation to protect the interests of the Sikh farmers in the state.

"Modi should prove his credentials of being a national leader by ensuring justice for the 50,000 Sikh farmers in Gujarat," he said.
