INDORE: Madhya Pradesh BJP has decided to invite Gujarat chief minister and party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and other national leaders as "star campaigners" for the assembly polls to be held in November.

"In Madhya Pradesh, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is the most popular leader, but in the coming assembly polls, Modi and other national leaders will be the party's star campaigners in the state," state BJP spokesman Vijendra Singh Sisodia told reporters.

"This will enhance the party's strength and its vote share in the state," Sisodia added.

Though the party spokesman did not answer when asked whether the BJP would give ticket to those Ministers facing Lokayukta probe in the state, he only said that the party would take a decision on the candidates after September 25, who would be selected "on the basis of merit".

Replying to a query, Sisodia said that BJP was not encouraging nepotism in the party.
