NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today remembered former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her 30th death anniversary and paid tributes to first Home Minister Sardar Patel on his birth anniversary.

"I join my fellow countrymen & women in remembering former PM Smt. Indira Gandhi on her Punya Tithi," Modi tweeted.

Indira Gandhi was assassinated by her own bodyguards on this day in 1984.

Modi also paid tributes to Sardar Patel. "I bow to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary. Sardar Patel's life is a journey of deep-rooted courage, dedication and service to the Motherland. He is truly the architect of Modern India," the Prime Minister said in another tweet.
