Narendra Modi men seek blessings for 'Statue of Unity' at Golden Temple
A delegation of BJP leaders from Gujarat visited the Golden Temple today and sought blessings for the early completion of the 182-meter statue of Patel.
The team led by Gujarat Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama said Sri Harmandir Sahib with its doors in all four directions was symbolic of Unity of Faiths and sought 'amrit' (nectar) from its sarovar to carry the message of unity to the whole country, a release issued by BJP today said.
Called the 'Statue of Unity', the structure would be a built with used iron tools collected from farmers and workers of over seven lakh villages across the country.
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, who had led the movement to build the structure, had laid foundation stone for the statue on October 31, birth anniversary of Sardar Patel who had united as many as 562 princely states into the nation.
Calling the late leader an inspiration to unity, Chudasama said every citizen would cooperate in this work to make India powerful, prosperous and united in the whole world.
