Narendra Modi-led government will be better than Atal's: LK Advani

GANDHINAGAR: BJP leader L K Advani on Monday assured his party workers that Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre would be stronger than the previous NDA government if he is voted to power.

"Recently, I wrote a balance-sheet of Vajpayeeji's government. I am sure that our next government will do better. Never before has it been so evident that the incumbent government is on its way out," Advani told a large gathering of workers at the inauguration of BJP's state headquarters.

Advani, who represents Gandhinagar in Lok Sabha, said no one believes Manmohan Singh is a full-time prime minister. Defending Modi, Advani said the Congress was targeting the Gujarat CM to divert attention from important issues.

He evaded questions about his plans to contest the parliamentary polls. "I have come here to attend the inauguration of the new party headquarters and a function at Keshubhai Patel's house. I would not like to comment on any other issue at present."

The BJP leader's meeting with Keshubhai has once again triggered speculation that the former CM may return to the BJP fold soon.
