Narendra Modi inaugurates phase-II of ISC's steel plant in Kutch
Modi today inaugurated phase-II of the steel plant of Indian Steel Corporation (ISC) at Bhimsar in Kutch district, built at the investment of Rs 884 crore.
The plant is a joint venture between India's Ruchi group and Japan's Mitsui. With this expansion, ISC's production capacity has reached six lakh metric tonnes per annum.
ISC had commissioned phase-I of the steel plant with investment of Rs 241 crore at Bhimsar in 2005. Subsequently, the company signed an MoU with the Gujarat government to set up phase-II during Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2009.
"Kutch has emerged as a steel hub of India and serves as a model for others to follow. It has achieved all-round and inclusive growth by adopting a strategy for balanced development," Modi said while speaking on the occasion.
"The investment in the industrial sector of the state is highest in the country," he said.
