Narendra Modi government transferred money to gram panchayats directly: Raj Nihal Chand

JAIPUR: Union Minister of State for Panchayati Raj Nihal Chand today said it was for the first time that the Centre had transferred funds directly into gram panchayats' accounts, and prepared a five-year development plan of villages.

Addressing farmers here, the Minister said, "For the first time, the BJP-led government has prepared a five-year plan for villages, and transferred money directly into the Gram Panchayats' accounts."

According to an official statement, Nihal announced that in the current fiscal year, a grant of Rs 50 lakh each is being given to every gram panchayat, and by January end the second installment of the funds would reach the panchayats."

During the last 60 years of previous governments at the Centre, the Modi government's moves of development in villages would be remarkable and memorable, he said.

Every farmer should obtain "soil health card", which will carry crop-wise recommendations of nutrients and fertilisers required for the individual farms to help farmers to improve productivity through judicious use of inputs, he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajasthan Water Resource Minister Dr Ram Pratap said the strengthening (repair) of "gangnahar in Sriganganagar district" was completed now, and strengthening works on Indira Gandhi Nahar Pariyojna and Bhakhra Canal with its tributories would be completed in a phased manner, the release added.
