NEW DELHI: India’s 15th Prime Minister Narendra Modi took charge of the government early this morning at around 8:45 am, escorted by a convoy of eight BMW cars and assorted security entourage into his South Block office at Raisina Hill.

Modi was welcomed into the Prime Minister’s Office by the newly-appointed Principal Secretary in the PMO Nripendra Misra and other senior officials. While he didn’t say a word to the media, he waved towards photographers and walked into office.

Within 25 minutes, the PM and top officials left for his first round of bilateral meetings with SAARC leaders who were in the capital to attend the Modi cabinet’s swearing-in ceremony on Monday. The series of bilateral meetings were to begin at 930 am in Hyderabad House.

At 9:42 am, the parliamentary affairs ministry finally made the list of portfolios allocated to the 45 member ministerial council that was sworn in on Monday.
