Narendra Modi: Censure and praise on social networking for Modi

AHMEDABAD: The social media campaign started much before the actual groundwork for Sadbhavana mission of Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi and the strategy reaped fruits on Saturday, the first day of the three-day fast where the pages received thousands of messages praising and criticizing Modi’s move.

Narendra Modi kept updating his Twitter page since morning, where he posted that he was on his way to the venue at 9.19 am. He later posted three tweets thanking national leaders and friends from other states who came to the venue to show solidarity with Sadbhavana and people of Gujarat. Twitterati posted time-by-time account of run-up to the fast by Modi. Faking News wrote, ‘Breaking News: Congress claims victory over #ModiFast using Duckworth-Lewis method.’

His official fan page on Facebook also was abuzz with activity from morning onwards as more than 6,000 people visited the page and posted 3,000 comments. The official website had live webcast of the event and constant updates including write-ups and videos. The site also has a message board where people showed solidarity with the mission. Many projected him as the future Prime Minister and also wished him happy birthday. The opponents mainly targeted Modi over ‘tamasha’ and waste of public money for the mega event.
