The Devendra Fadnavis government in Maharashtra is currently 23 short of a majority and is ruling the state with the support of the Shiv Sena.

The Congress leader was in Pune when he made the comments while speaking to reporters about the prevailing political situation in Maharashtra. The Devendra Fadnavis government in Maharashtra is currently 23 short of a majority and is ruling the state with the support of the Shiv Sena. There is however doubts about the stability of the government as the Sena had threatened before the elections that it would withdraw support to the government.
Meanwhile Rane said that there was no need for the Congress and NCP to bring a No confidence motion against the Fadnavis government if the Sena sides with them. "If the Sena withdraws support to the government, then there will be no need for a no confidence motion. The government is supported by the Sena and if they withdraw support then the government will fall as it has no majority," said Rane.
