‘NaMo...NaMo’ to be released today; may become campaign tune

Amid high-pitched election campaign in Gujarat, a film song on Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to be released on Thursday in Ahmedabad.

Sources in the BJP said that the ruling party is going to use the song ‘NaMo…NaMo’ from Gujarati film, ‘Hun Narendra Modi Banva Mangu Chhu’, in its election campaign. Filmmaker Anil Narayan is to formally launch the film song in Ahmedabad. He has planned the film’s release on December 15, a day after polls are over in Gujarat.

When questioned on whether the film release was planned at the time of Gujarat elections for the benefit of BJP, Narayan said: “We had planned the release two months ago when elections were not even declared. We decided to go for December 15 release of our film looking at the scheduled release of ‘Padmavati’ on December 1. There is a possibility of all types of allegations when one uses the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”


Narayan further said:“I have nothing to do with the BJP whether it gets advantage from my film or launch of the song. I am inspired by Modi. He is my role model. Even if Modi was in any other party, I would have made a film on him. I have tried to present his work in the film to show that it would be beneficial in longer run.”

The over Rs 2-crore budget film began more than a year ago, when the filmmaker obtained approval from the Prime Minister’s Office to use Modi’s name in registration of the title.

Narayan said that the film is based on Modi’s early life and an element of fiction is introduced to make the story interesting. It is in kid’s zone and portrays Modi’s journey in his early life. Narayan has planned a sequel of the film. “I have started writing the script for the second part,” he said.
